Measuring 27 inches in length, the chain features a secure bolt ring clasp and bears multiple French import owl hallmarks, guaranteeing a minimum gold purity of 750/18ct across all components. These owl marks, used from 1893 to 1984 for non-treaty imports, are accompanied by other indistinct stamps, possibly identifying the maker. Because the owl mark is strictly an import mark, the chain was manufactured outside France, possibly in Belgium, Italy, or Switzerland, and imported between 1893 and 1984. However, the design and techniques are consistent with turn-of-the-century European craftsmanship.
